Our first virtue is patience.

Patience is a Virtue, possess it if you can.
Seldom found in woman, and never in a man.

Patience is the ability to wait for something without frustration, it is a useful skill and a good aspect of one’s personality.
A little like “all good things come to those who wait”.

We seem to live in an age and society where everyone wants things instantly without putting in any effort or work, but when this is the case we do not hold things in the same value as when we have to wait or maybe work hard to achieve something, this gives things more value.

Please remember this is my design and is covered by copyright law, you can download the pattern for your own use, and you may do whatever you like with your finished Virtue blanket. Helpful hints and tips.

Take your time, this is a journey, not a race, enjoy every moment of each stitch you create. Remember new skills take time to learn.

Read the pattern carefully and familiarise yourself with the abbreviations, all special stitches are listed at the beginning of the pattern and have links to separate US terms video tutorials.

Follow the hints, they are there to help you.

♥ Use stitch markers, they are your friend and will keep you on the right path.

Check your stitch count after every repeat, it is essential to the shape of this design and will save having to rip/frog your work.
The only frogs we want are the kind that turns into a Prince!

Use the videos to help you if you need to.
Video tutorials are in US terms.
Those of you familiar with my designs will recognise some of my signature stitches, like the Ruffle Stitch, and Folding Single Crochet, there are also picots in Part 1, if you are not familiar with my “Perfect Picots” please do watch the video tutorial.

  1. Terri Good

I’m absolutely enjoying the pattern. The video is so helpful, when I’m second guessing myself. It’s always good to read and comprehend…LOL. You are a wonderful teacher and pattern designer.

  2. Chelsea Sale

This is my second crochet along and I’m enjoying it just as much as the first time around. I chose my own color way of purples and cream from Stylecraft Special. I would love to able to post my progress as well as see others’. Is there a place to do that?

    • Helen

Yes, you can share your progress and ask for help by joining my Facebook group Helen’s Hookaholics.

  3. Hazel Scott

I am enjoying this crochet-a-long. I am using the UK written pattern and also the you tube videos. Both of which I am enjoying. The hints and tips that Helen has included are great. It is good to see the tips on how to keep the stitches even when making clusters and also the reminders to use stitch markers when you need to. I recommend using the other videos on the YouTube channel if you are struggling with certain stitches or you find you have made a mistake in previous rows. The video on how to fix problems without frogging has saved me a lot of time.

  4. Judy Bruckner

This is my first crochet-along and the first time using a pattern by Helen. It is a great challenge. Learning a lot by the videos. My only want is color indicators; i.e. row 1-4 use yarn A, rows 5 use yarn B, etc. It just helps first-timers. Thank you for allowing me to learn from you Helen.

The colours per round are available in a link from the introducing Virtue page, scroll down to the yarn pack info and you will see the link
