Rather than the normal triangular shape, this shawl dips down slightly on the outer edges giving a gull wing or bird wing shape.

This drapes beautifully over your shoulders or sits around your neck like a scarf.

The shawl is made with a plain double crochet [US terms] section and then a beautiful feathery pattern, which works up quickly and easily.

You can choose to go larger by extending the first part or by adding more patterned rows, or by using a thicker yarn and larger hook size.

I used 3 x 100g balls of Stylecraft Life,

1 ball of Rose for the solid part and 2 balls of Life Changes – Roses for the patterned rows, with a 4mm G hook.

Stylecraft life and Life Changes are available from any of my online partners, just click on the link at the bottom of this page.

Tassels or not, it’s up to you.

I have a video tutorial for making tassels, they are really easy to make and add a beautiful finishing touch.

As I have been having a major sort out because of moving to a new house, I came across a cake of Wolltraum yarn in the colourway Eye in the Sky.

Although I find this yarn soft and beautiful to wear, I do find I have to slow down as I am working with it and keep my tension slightly looser than normal.

This shawl took 1 – 200g cake of 4-ply yarn, 760 meters, with a 4mm G hook.

Ineke used Stylecraft Special Dk in Pistachio, Meadow and Khaki, with a 4mm hook, you can find all the details on her Ravelry project page.

I just love these colours with a denim jacket, and the cowl type effect to keep your neck all warm and cosy.
