Introducing Virtue
Introducing Virtue crochet along for 2022.
Below you will find all the information you need to plan for and join us in this year’s project.
Please read all the information carefully.
For a translated version of this introduction please scroll down to Terminology and Languages and click on your prefered language.
The cal will run for 8 weeks starting Friday 30th September 2022, with the final part on Friday 18th November 2022.
A few of you suggested that this year we should call the CAL Patience!
As I was designing this year’s pattern this saying kept going over and over in my mind…
“Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can, seldom found in woman, and never in a man”
So, I started to think of all the other virtues we as human beings should practice, things like Patience – Kindness – Honesty – Charity – Contentment – Humility – Diligence – LOVE.
It is my personal belief that when we love who we are as a person it becomes easy to live our lives in the energy of Love and practising the virtues mentioned above means that we come from a loving place, so the cycle keeps building and we keep radiating Love to ourselves and to all around us.

There will be two yarn packs available, please see details below.
Each of the yarn packs has plenty of yarn to make the colourway to the finished size using the hook size recommended.
However, we all have slightly different tension so I do recommend making a very small test square just to make sure that you will achieve the recommended results and have plenty of yarn.
To make a test square and check your tension, and to see which hook size works best for you, please see this tutorial Tension and Gauge.
I always encourage you to create your own colourway to personalise your blanket, either for you or the lucky person who receives it as a gift.
There is a colouring sheet to download a little further down.
The total amount of yarn needed allowing for colour changes is:
Naturals Cotton Bamboo – approx. 3600 metres – 3950 yards – 3.5mm hook. Finished size: 134.5cm / 53 inches. (Similar to 4-ply whirls/twirls)
Normal Double Knit yarn – #3 weight – 8-ply – approx. 4500 metres – 4921 yards – 4mm G hook – Finished size 165cm / 65 inches.
Aran – Worsted – #4 weight – 10-ply – approx. 4704 metres – 5144 yards – 5 mm H hook. Finished size 178 cm / 70 inches.
How much yarn you need depends on how many colours you chose to use.

Sandra Dorey –
My favourite of your patterns. I’ve made 4.
I love it mainly because of the way the corners are made – without a multitude of ends to sew in.

ANGELA REEVES –
Beautiful! So nice of you to do free patterns. Just one suggestion the hooks are way to small. Maybe do they next one with at least a J or even a K.
Helen –
You can use whatever yarn weight and hook size you like. I always work with double knit yarn and a 4mm G hook or slightly smaller.
If you were to use a 6mm J or 6.5mm K hook you would be using a chunky/super chunky yarn and your finished project would be enormous.
Annette Sharpe –
Enjoy making your patterns
