Ruffle Stitch

This is another favourite stitch of mine.

I love any stitches that create texture.

This is a simple but very effective stitch which can be used in many ways.

I have used it as part of the centre of my “I Love Butter cup” square in my new “Bloomin Blanket” design.

And you will be seeing more of it next year!

The Ruffle stitch is made over 3 stitches, and so will work in either rows or rounds where you have a multiple of 3 dc in the previous row or round.

Start with a front loop single crochet in the 1st stitch, make a half double crochet and 3 double crochet around the post of the same stitch.

Skip the next stitch.

Front loop single crochet in the 3rd stitch.

Here you can see a round of Ruffle stitches.

Front of work.

And this is the back of the work.

Always a good way to check you are using the correct number of stitches.

Ruffle stitch can also be made in rows.
