Folding Single Crochet

This is a stitch I LOVE.

It adds so much texture and a lovely cushioned effect.

You can now find a video tutorial at the bottom of the page.

It is essentially a single crochet stitch, made through the back loop of two stitches in two rows or rounds.

However there first has to be something to fold!

To begin, make a round of Front Loop treble stitches [fltr].

Join to the first stitch with a slip stitch in the Front Loop ONLY.

Chain 1 and insert your hook through the back loop of the treble and the back loop of the corresponding stitch in the round below.

You will have 3 loops on your hook.

Yarn over and pull up a loop through both back loops.

You will have 2 loops on you hook, yarn over and pull through both loops, just as you would to make a normal single crochet.

Continue around, making sure you are working into the back loop at the base of each treble.

It may seem as if you are working slightly behind yourself!

All of my tutorials are free and are written or recorded using US terminology.
