2 Back Post Stitches Around 2 Stitches

Making 2 Back Post double crochet around 2 stitches together.

For many people as soon as they see together or tog they assume a decrease.

This stitch does not create a decrease.

It always amazes me how our brain can go into auto pilot, and rather than read the actual words we assume what we are seeing.

When we make a decrease the abbreviation will often be something like this – sc2tog – dc3tog etc.

This stitch is 2 back post double crochet around the next 2 stitches together.

It can also be made with back post trebles.

The important thing to remember is that you will make 2 stitches around the posts of 2 stitches.

Here’s how…

1. Yarn over, insert hook around the back posts of the next 2 stitches.

2. Yarn over, pull up a loop and complete the back post double crochet.

3. Yarn over, insert hook around the back posts of the same 2 stitches, ensuring you are working below the 1st stitch.

4. Complete the 2nd back post double crochet.

As you continue working around the bottom loops of the stitches will drop down giving this gorgeous chunky texture to your work.
