Summer’s End Waistcoat
£3.50 or ( 3 Credits )
There is something about being the age I am, and getting somewhat over heated, or as I tend to say…. My thermostat is broken!!
Many of you ladies out there will understand what I mean.
I find a jumper/pullover or cardigan is often too much, but I love waistcoats as they keep my back warm, without the rest of me over heating.
Available to purchase in US or UK terms.
.
So, as Summer draws to an end in the Northern parts of the world, and we start to have slightly chilly mornings or evenings, this waistcoat is the perfect accessory to go with jeans, long sleeved T’s and boots.
Designed for the Stylecraft Blog Stars Tour 2018, I used the Summer Pudding yarn pack. A total of 5 100g balls of Bambino and Bellissima yarns, with a 4mm hook.
There are 2 colours from the Bambino range, Heather and Sage, and 3 colours from the new Bellissima range Double Denim, Purple Passion, and Single Cream.
You can purchase these yarns from your favourite stockists as a pack or you can make up your own colours with any Double Knit yarn.

I have designed this edge to edge waistcoat for a medium or large size.
But you can go smaller or larger, and the pattern tells you how.
Mine is large, and fits a UK size 16 to 20, the medium size will fit a UK size 10 to 14.
Ineke made the medium size using Stylecraft Special DK in Denim, White, Cloud Blue and Midnight, and hook size 4mm/G
1 ball of each colour is more than enough.
She also changed the edging slightly by using a different colour for each round.
The motifs are easy to make, the slightly tricky part is the join as you go.
If you have never done this before it is very straight forward, but you need to take care to join correctly at the shoulders.
I recommend that you make all the circles first, as it is then much easier to work the last 2 rounds and join the motifs.
The pattern includes layouts for a shorter length or you can go longer by adding more rows of motifs.
You can also use the motifs, join technique and edging to create a beautiful wrap or scarf.
