Light and Lacy Summer Poncho

I just love ponchos!

I find them so comfortable to wear, and love the way they can jazz up plain everyday outfits.

They are great over a strappy top or plain long sleeved T-shirt.

I brought some Wolltraum yarn some time ago, 4 cakes actually…. I used one for a Virus shawl, and the other 3 have just been sitting there all neglected, while I have been working like a crazy person on lots of other things.

But summer is here…and I am hoping to be spending some time travelling soon, so I wanted to make a couple of really pretty but light poncho’s to just be able to throw on.

A few of you have asked for instructions so I have made a pdf for you to download with some very simple instructions to make the Light and Lacy Summer Poncho.

I used 1 200g cake, 760 metres of 4ply with a 4mm hook.

You could easily use any lightweight cotton yarn for this, or even a 4-ply acrylic.

This is a one size pattern, so you can adjust to make it larger or smaller, should you need to.

As you can see it is a very simple stitch.

I did a total of 31 rounds.

Last round, add beads if you like, my friend Kay Crone taught me the easy peasy way to add beads you can find a tutorial here…Going Viral with Beads.

I used some of the colour from the bottom to edge the neck of my poncho.

Block your work to gain a beautiful, professional finish, and go “knock um dead” with your beautiful Light and Lacy Summer Poncho.
