I first made myself this lap blanket about 6 years ago, but had not written the pattern for it until now.
Granny Mandy is a quick and easy project that can be made with any weight of yarn and can easily be extended.
My personal preference is Aran weight yarn, as the size is great just to cover my legs when I am working on a smaller project or snuggled in my chair reading a good book.

The photo tutorial pdf gives you step-by-step photos so that you can clearly see what each round and repeat should look like. Plus if you are a more visual person or a beginner to crochet there are also video tutorials in US terms that take you through step by step, with lots of handy hints and tips for working the special stitches.

There are 2 yarn packs available, one in Yarnsmiths chunky weight and one in Aran weight yarn.

Yarnsmiths is Wool Warehouses own brand yarn and is lovely to work with and they have lots of gorgeous colours.

You will find the colours per round pdf in the Yarn Pack section below.
You can also go smaller and use Double Knit yarn with a 4mm hook for a baby blanket.

This is the original Granny Mandy I made 6 years ago. I used Aran weight yarn and a 5mm I hook.
