The design and yarn packs are inspired by the local countryside in Spring and Autumn where we are surrounded by hills that blaze with colour in spring and autumn.
Bugle is a place name that has puzzled many people.
From accounts and cuttings taken from various newspapers and books, the popular theory is that Bugle got its name because of the Regulator coach which stopped at the inn -which was described as ‘attractive to neatness and comfort’ and had good stabling and a lock-up coach house. This information came from Life in Cornwall in the mid 19th Century extracted from the West Briton newspaper. As the coach left the inn, the guard would blow a bugle for the hostler at Bilberry Farm to bring the horses to the main road where they were exchanged.
The photo tutorial gives you step by step photos so that you can clearly see what each round and repeat should look like. Plus if you are a more visual person or a beginner to crochet there are also video tutorials in US terms that take you through step by step, with lots of handy hints and tips for working the special stitches.
The pattern is written to use 5 colours, you will note in the yarn pack section each colour is numbered, this number is given at the beginning of each round of the pattern, but you can use as many or few colours as you like.
For Double Knit yarn with a 4mm G hook you will need a total of approx. 4225 meters / 4620 yards of yarn depending on the number of colours you use.
Should you wish to use an Aran/ Worsted weight yarn and a 5 mm H hook you will need approx. 25% more yarn.
For a Baby size Bugle Blanket, in Double Knitting yarn and 4mm G hook, I suggest stopping at Round 53.
Baby size yarn requirements: 2 x C1, 2 x C3, plus 1 x each of other colours.
Size 32 inches / 81.5 cm
