Wrap or Ruana
Naomi is a girl’s name, Hebrew in origin, which means Beautiful or Gentle, and this gorgeous design will wrap you in gentle shells.
This simple yet very versatile design can be made to any size you prefer.
Available to purchase in US or UK terms.
.
As a wrap you will just make a single rectangular panel, for a Ruana, make two panels and sew or crochet them together half way to form a solid back and split/open front to wear however you like.
This type of stitch design is perfectly suited to any of the long colour change yarn cakes that are very popular at the moment.
Use a soft light yarn for summer evenings, I used Stylecraft Batik Swirl with a 4mm hook, 2 cakes, 1100meters/1202yards for the wrap, and 4 cakes for the Ruana.
Or go with a thicker yarn and larger hook for a chunky, winter wrap.
The pattern repeat is quite simple and starting with foundation single crochet you can make sure you get the right measurements for you. Which makes this easy to make for beginners and still a fun stitch pattern for more experenced people.
For the Ruana you will need to make two panels and join them, my advice is to measure the length and width you will require before you begin, we are all different and I have tried to make this design as flexible as possible.
Here are some of the versatile ways you can use this design.
As a wonderful warm wrap over a winter coat
As a soft yet warm wrap over an evening dress, for those slightly chilly evenings.
As a soft wrap, or change the size and make a neck warmer.
The posibilities are endless, limited only by your creativity.
