Oooh exciting times!
Many of you will know that I was away for a couple of days, I can now share where I was, and what I was doing.
♥ I am now an official Stylecraft Blogstar ♥
I am thrilled to join this amazing team of bloggers and designers, and to be working closely with Stylecraft yarns, and their lovely team.
A four hour drive on Friday, up the M1 (yuck), took me to up to the Pennines in Yorkshire. There was snow on the ground when I got there, and a very chilly wind blowing.
But oh my goodness what a warm welcome.
It was wonderful to sit and chat over a cup of tea, and later over dinner with so many inspirational, creative, ladies.
There was so many different topics of conversation, but most of us were knitting or crocheting as we were chatting. I know the internet, and social media brings us all together, but there really is nothing like sitting next to each other discussing colours, yarns, and the latest project we are all working on.
Then on Saturday we all went to Spa Mill, the home of Stylecraft, where Annabelle, from Stylecraft, updated us on all the latest goings on, and gave us all some new yarns to play with.
Yummy Yarns…..
Here are some of the yarns I was given in a goodie bag, and what I am planning to do with them.
Head Over Heals Boho.
♥ This is a gorgeous sock weight yarn, but my plans are to make a lovely lacy scarf or wrap with this yarn.
Bambino
This yarn is sooooo soft and squishy, it has a slightly looser twist than other yarns, it is 100% Premium Acrylic, and Double Knit weight.
♥ I have been thinking of designing a baby blanket for a while now, and this yarn will be perfect!
Jeanie
These are the new colours in the Jeanie range. 60% cotton, 40% Premium Acrylic.
An Aran/worsted weight yarn, 5mm hook recommended, this yarn is going to be so versatile.
♥ At the moment I have no idea what I am planning to make with this yarn.
Batik Swirl
And finally Batik Swirl.
I asked in my Facebook group, what people would most like me to design, a poncho or a wrap?
The results were fairly even, and I feel a Ruana or blanket wrap would be great in this yummy yarn, so that is what I am going to be working on first.
The twist will be that the pattern can also be made into a rectangular wrap, I just have to design it first!
Mini Workshop
One of the things we all did was learn how to make a Dorset Button, this was so easy, and I can see a few of these in future projects.
Here is my first attempt, made with the Linen Drape yarn.
I would just like to repeat something here that Annabelle said….
If every you have a problem with any Stylecraft yarn, PLEASE let them know straight away, then they can find the problem and sort it out.
This is their hotline phone number 01484 848 435.
If you are outside of the UK then please email them or message them on their Facebook page, they will respond as soon as possible.
Stylecraft is a family run business, and their customers mean a lot to them. They have an enormous amount of knowledge about yarn and the world of knitting and crochet. As a designer I feel this is very important for me to get the support I need, and also to be able to help and support all of you who support and follow me.
So I am thrilled to be a part of the Blogstars team, and to be in the company of so many talented, creative people.
