Garden Party

It’s PARTY TIME!!

Get yourself a mug, cup or glass of something and settle yourself down to have a look at the Stylecraft Blogstars’ fabulous Garden Party, and just a little bit of rambling from me.

As blogstars for Stylecraft we have fairly regular meetings, most of these are still via zoom….but we do finally have a face to face meet-up planned for this year. I don’t know about you, but I have really missed physically spending time with like-minded people and bouncing ideas off of one another.

We were chatting over on our What’sApp group and a couple of the blogstars said they wanted to do more together.
So I came up with the idea of a special project to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, this then turned into a garden party theme and so the Stylecraft Blogstars Garden Party started to come to life.

As with all parties, it took a lot of planning, but who doesn’t love a party? Whether it is just a small party for family or friends or a huge street party, there is nothing better than spending time outside on a beautiful summer’s day [bugs and weather permitting!]

We all started to design our little hearts out and put together some fabulous ideas for small crochet or knitted items that are easy to make and will add a touch of elegance and fun to your gardens this summer which include bunting, placemats, tea cosies, table runners, mandalas and cupcakes. The participating blogstars have each published a new pattern for you to buy. Some are donating proceeds to their favourite charities, you can read all about the individual blogstars and their patterns below. But I am going to start with mine.

Lilibet is an elegant placemat and coaster set.

We decided, as a group, to use soft pastel colours, which are the colours favoured by Queen Elizabeth, plus they always look fabulous and have a timeless elegance, as well as looking so pretty in a summer garden.

Placemats and coasters are a wonderful way to use up odd balls of cotton yarn and add a splash of colour around your home.
Lilibet can also be attached to a hoop as a hanging mandala or as a pretty mat for your smaller house plants.

Our party started with Lucy from Attic24. Lucy came up with this awesome idea to cover a tin… yes just an old baked bean or soup tin, a little bit of organic cotton and lot of creativity. Our third guest to the party is Catherine Bligh from catherinecrochetcorner.

Paja’s Party is a three-in-one pattern – a coaster that can either grow into a placemat or into a gorgeous beaded jug cover.
Perfect for an afternoon tea in the garden, or to cover that all-important jug of Pimms!

Next to the party, and from the other side of the world [Australia] is Emily Littlefair from The Loopy Stitch.

Emily has designed the cutest hanging mobile called Posy of Dreams.

Not only will this add some beautiful decor to any outdoor event, but it would also be perfect to hang above a child’s bed.

Helen Kurtz of Josie kitten brought some comfort to the party.

Macaron is a stylish circular cushion pattern with both knitted and crocheted versions. I love the little flower embellishments.

It can be easily adjusted to fit different cushion pad sizes.

Jane Crowfoot of janiecrow.com is next up and has designed this beautiful beaded bunting, which is named in honour and memory of her sister-in-law Julie.

This beautifully light, lacey design is perfect for any summer setting.
