Part 5 Friends Holding Hands

Welcome to part 5 of Heart of Friendship crochet a-long.
In our final 2 weeks together, you will be joining your squares and making the border, Friends Holding Hands.
♥ Crochet is an artform, a craft, an addiction! which brings so many of us together from all over the world. The friends holding hands in the border symbolises all of us joining together. ♥
♥ These hints and tips are not the pattern, they are exactly what they say they are, hints and tips to help you, as you make this Afghan/Blanket.
♥ If you would like to join us, please go to the Intro post for links to purchase the pattern and information on yarn requirements.

♥ The squares are joined using a single crochet and chain 1 join, possibly one of the most simple yet effective joins there is.

♥ As you start round 1 of the border, please make sure you double check your stitch count.
♥ You will then create some little hearts, and my favourite part of the blanket, the “Friends Holding Hands”. I have made a note in the various rounds for the parts of the friends you will be making. As you can see in the photo tutorial I used Graphite (dark grey) for the bodies, Candyfloss (pale pink) for the background, Fondant (mid pink) for the heads.
♥ I do suggest keeping the background rounds (7, 9, 11 and 13) all the same colour, then your friends will be easy to see.
♥ And finally some more clusters and shells to finish the border.

I hope you have enjoyed crocheting along with the Pippin Crochet Club, and that you have had fun making your Heart of Friendship blanket.
