Part 3 Cushion of Safety
Welcome to part 3 of Heart of Friendship crochet a-long.
In this next 2 weeks you will be making square 2, Cushion of Safety.
A cushion of softness, and loads of puff stitches.
Count, count, count your stitches!!
♥ You will need to make 4 squares.
♥ These hints and tips are not the pattern, they are exactly what they say they are, hints and tips to help you, as you make this Afghan/Blanket.
♥ If you would like to join us, please go to the Intro post for links to purchase the pattern and information on yarn requirements.
♥ Blocking your squares, once completed, will give a fabulous finish to them, and make joining much easier, Blocking Your Work.
♥ I always find making all four squares at the same time easier. Round 1 for all the squares then round 2 on all of them etc.
♥ With this square, you will be making lots, and lots of Puff Stitches.
♥ Here is how I make Puff stitches Puff Stitch Video Tutorial
Your work will become very wobbly, until round 6, which neatly brings everything together.
Remember your puff stitch is closed with a chain 1, you will be working into these ch-1’s and not the actual puff st.
Once you have completed round 10, your work will be square, and should lay flat.
♥ And here is a special video tutorial to help you with the centre, and round 6 of this weeks square.
♥ Next, we move on to working clusters, take care with your stitch count here, make sure you have the right number of clusters in each stitch, and the correct number of stitches skipped between cluster groups.
The rest is very straight forward, have fun 🙂
See you in two weeks for the next part of Heart of Friendship.
